For 5 cents I can tell you how I get around that on other lists. I simply use the JAWS dictionary. For example, I replace the string: LeftBracket midi-mag RightBracket with a single space character and it no longer speaks. I actually support the idea of this, as I also use the subject line to help filter my inbox into several separate folders for easy review.
