Hi Mitch,

In order to have JAWS running off the on-board sound card (in my case, the RealTech sound card) instead of the external card, (in my case, the SoundBlaster Odygy), you must insert the following line into the jfw.ini file of the JAWS version you are using:

Synth1Port=Realtek HD Audio rear output

This line must be inserted in the new jfw.ini file each time you upgrade to a new version of JAWS; otherwise, JAWS will run off the external card just like everything else on your PC. The line should be inserted just above the first line that starts with Synth2. The path for the jfw.ini file for JAWS 10.0 is:

C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\Jaws\10.0\jfw.ini

   Hope this helps,

   Don

Subject: JAWS 10 Beta & 2 Sound Cards

Hi, The beta seems to have disrupted the sound separation of my 2 sound
cards as now all the sounds come through one set of speakers.
I have tried without success to correct this in the Sounds and Speech
manager. I also seem to recall faintly about having to do some kind of
manipulation of files for the 2 sound cards to work independently.
I would appreciate a reeducation on this if others with 2 sound cards are
having similar results with the beta 10. Thanks, Mitch
