I did a brief search on google and it appears that .dbx stands for "data base
files" so I presume the "x" stands for extension hence .dbx = "data base
extension."
I did see some applications that talked about recovering your data recovery for
.dbx files but generally it talked about corrupt and not deleted files.
I am not sure how some of these programs--assuming they do what you are looking
to do would work with a screen reader program. Such programs would have limited
application and may have not been well configured to work with a screen reader
so possibly someone with sight could assist you in determining if any of these
applications could in fact, recover deleted files.
Personally, I back up my data to an external drive on a fairly regular basis.
If you can afford it, this is well worth while and such drives can be obtained
for about $100, especially for a 120 gig which is huge for just text data--and
not bad for mp3 files either--only when you get into video storage are you
talking about storage hogs.

DBX is just a file extension indicator. I'm not sure what it actually stands
for. .DBX files are files containing compressed email messages.
