The actual import process itself is quite intuitive. The import option is in the file menu structure--alt f then just arrow to import sub menu. You will want to import mail, of course. You will next be given an option for your copied messages location so select this option and browse until you find the folder you have copied. You are next given a choice whether to import all or selected folders. While learning this process, choose the selected folder option so if you need to repeat the process for some reason, you will not get duplicate mail imported back into all your o/e messages. Once you have used the import command a time or two and are familiar with it then you can choose the import all option. I have used this feature only for the first time myself this past week--with success--after some trial and error--and the problem I had was that I had changed some of my file names after I had copied them to a D drive and o/e definitely could not see those files even when I changed the name back to the original name. I had changed the name to date my stored files sort of like Jaws mail vol 2005 and so on. ----- Original Message ----- From: "cheryll" <cheryll@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 1:14 PM Subject: Re: Finding lost messages in outlook express Hi Robert, What are the steps to import... So, what you may want to try is to create a new folder in o/e and then import the files from your stored folder into the new folder. Create the folder under local folders so it will have its own level in the tree and not be a sub-folder of another folder. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vicki Wherry" <amethyst17@xxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, February 18, 2007 5:33 PM Subject: Re: Finding lost messages in outlook express Since the folder is 17.2 MB, it's definitely not empty. I'll try this. Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ricque" <ricjustice@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, February 18, 2007 6:07 PM Subject: Re: Finding lost messages in outlook express Hi Vicki, If you have closed Outlook Express since you deleted those messages, or emptied the deleted items folder, chances they are gone for good. However, you can still check the .dbx file for them. You can extract the e-mail messages from the .dbx file using a program called dbxtract. You can download it from: www.blind-computing.com click the e-mail link, and then you will find it under utilities.
