Kelly,
I just looked at the article to which this link leads, and as you didn't
happen to mention, it's an old article from the AFB's Access world reporting
on the creation, not the takeover, of Freedom Scientific. Please reread the
article. It's long, but it's extremely well organized and very informative.
This Chandler person is described only as an individual with entrepreneurial
business interest who did not "go to Northridge," in the sense that means
here in Los angels, which is to attend school at California Sate University
at Northridge. He attended a CSUN assistive tech trade show at the hotels on
Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which isn't
"going to Northridge." Northridge is a community in the San Fernando Valley,
miles from there. . And he felt inspired to get involved in creating a
single company from the merging of the three familiar companies that
comprise FS. Blazie and H-J and Arkenstone. He did not "acquire" FS as an
investment from somewhere and then do something horrible to it. And nowhere
does it identify him as being related to the Chandler family that goes back
to the days of Harrison Gray Otis , the powerful L.A. Times ;publisher two
presided over the emergence of Los Angeles as a major metropolis in the late
19th century, nor of Otis Chandler, Dorothy Chandler, Harry Chandler, or any
other person in that legendary lineage. He's simply given as a guy named
Richard Chandler.

It's important to read these things carefully, not to draw hasty
conclusions. That was a story about the founding of Freedom Scientific, the
creation of it,, not about its ill-fated takeover by a bad person, or
something.

Okay, I'm out of this one now.

If a Google search is performed on the words

freedom scientific chandler

one will find a number of results including:

http://www.afb.org/afbpress/pub.asp?DocID=aw020102

from the AFB. It described how Richard Chandler attended CSun one year,
found an interest in the adaptive technology industry, and connected with
some entrepreneurs who had started companies and wanted to cash out.
