If I run CHKDSK,, the program might decide that the areas where the files I cannot access are bad sectors and delete them from the file allocation table.
This would also alter the physical layout of the drive, which in turn might make it impossible to use any data file recovery software to recover the lost files.
Before running CHKDSK, I would like to try and recover the files before running chkdsk to fix any disk error problems.
