I have a couple of servers running ext4 and there are no issues
so far. Unless you really want the new ext4 features, I recommend
ext3 for now.
More than the risk ext4 brings, the greater risk is of your HDD
failing. Are you implementing any type of RAID to protect against
disk failures? Or better yet, have a 2nd HDD where you can do
a daily file sync.
