Well., I think the Free Software movement would not have survived this
long had it not been for the copy-left. Ditching it now is not a good
idea. A person who is really concerned about his user's freedom., wont

from. Only people who have ideas of lifting community work for personal
gain would be threatened by the GPL. Now., these people obviously need
to be threatened and forced., coz thats the healthy way towards the

I know that there are people bound by NDAs and other nonsense like that.
Those people should NOT use GPLed code in their projects. That ways.,
their respective companies will realize the loss they make by not using
available code and decide to give their source out as Free Software.
That should be the line of attack., not the other way around.
This is the difference in the perspective of the Free-Software
movement., and the Open-Source movement. Free Software movement is
centered on the `Freedom` of the individual user., and making sure that
that freedom lasts. The Open-Source guys have different ideas. All they
are bothered about is `convenience` and `productivity`. These are merely
the side-effects of Free-Software. Too much concentration on them will
definitely side-track the whole movement. The Open-Source movement is
considered successful based on how many companies `use Open-Sourced
software` and how many companies support it. Have all those companies
given up the proprietary model completely?? No.. The Free-Software
movement wants all software to be Free (as in freedom).
And., `Linus` did not `invent/discover/*` the distributed development
model. It has been around and used for quite a long time in the GNU
project.. way before even Linux came out (gcc, emacs, ..).
And ESR., well.. I reserve my comments on him for some other post :)
