They(*BSD) have been following the BSDL for 23 years now and it has held
up against all odds, so there is no requirement to shift to the GPL.
It's the same with Linux, we have used the GPL for ~15 years now and
there is no need for a shift.Of course, the usage of the GPL as a
defense mechanism for Free/Open Source Software has decreased but it
will always remain as a deterrent for the developers.
