An excellent how-to!
1) You have to wait until the representative comes
Think about a newbie linux user going through every step of your how-to?
2) It is definitely loss of cash for Airtel since they
have to deploy a more expensive ethernet modem
This is more convenient for the user.
I have a very simple question. Consider that I am a hardcore linux user who
refuses to use Windows at all. Now, how can I get the latest kernel and the
driver for the usb modem without booting into Windows? I would stick to
ethernet modem rather. It will be worth waiting.
3) The service engineer's visit does entail
inconvenience for Airtel and yourself
It is easy for them to install an ethernet modem compared to answering a linux
newbies random questions.
4) Many machines don't have ethernet card and you are
forced to purchase one :-(
I agree to this. In this case it is worth spending some time.
Cheers,
Noorul
