I did that for my friend. Airtel flatly refused that
it can ever be made to work under Linux. I kept on
insisting and then they conceded that it might be
possible but we don't support it.
I agree, it was not easy . Anyway that doesn't matter
now.
If any of you folks are having an Airtel USB modem
from Beetel model 100CX and wish to get that working
under linux, get in touch with me.
Maybe I could write a wiki article on this. How else
can I make sure other folks all over the country
benefit by this discovery?

I will try to write a simple shell script to make the
job as easy as possible. But kernel modules are
involved, so it is not so easy.
The interesting thing is I am writing this mail from
my BSNL connection connected with the Airtel modem!
