#2. What I had intended was that the by doing `walks' it somehow takes a
political turn of events.
I still wonder if it would serve any purpose at all.
great exercise, improves your digestion etc?
1. While not opposing proprietory software, we can hold banners against
software piracy. Promote honesty among software users. If all the proprietory
software being used are forced to be paid for, I am sure many of the users
will consider open source alternatives.
2. Distribute CDs containing Windows versions of Open Source alternatives. A
CD containing Firefox, Open Office, Gaim, Thunderbird etc can be prepared and
distributed during the walk.
3. If it is going to be a Guindy walk, we should choose a working day peak
hour time (8 am) and target the office/college going public. On a sunday as
pointed out we might not reach the target audience.
4. A walk from Guindy railway station to Gandhi Mandapam will cover a lot of
ground. Office workers commuting to Tidal Park and beyond, Students going to
Anna University campuses, government employees going to Anna Salai and beyond
would be potential spectators for the walk.
Count me in for such a walk in any form. It is a great exercise and improves
digestion :-).
Having benefitted so much from open source software and not having contributed
back in equal measure I feel a personal obligation to participate in such
events.
Best regards,
Ma Sivakumar
