Even when a route is closed, the destination stays active. If you have made it close enough to the destination that the route closes, you are pretty darn close to the destination. You can use the D key to zero in.
I will also divulge that the next version of our GPS will automatically creates routes from a replay file. That means you can turn replay on, walk a route, cloe it and then create a route from that replay. It won't matter if you are mapped streets or walking through the woods. This is the same approach that the Breeze is taking to accommodate users who prefer a simple system.
