I can't speak for all of nuclear power, but one very large nuclear utility treats all the I/A part number revision levels as equivalent. The rationale is that you are relying on your vendors QA program/procedures/processes to ensure that either A) all P/N revision levels are compatible, or B) they have a notification process to inform you when they aren't. I'm sure you've performed some type of documented audit to accept the Foxboro/Siebe/Invensys/Schneider (henceforth referred to as "the vendor" to avoid wear and tear on my keyboard) programs and processes, even if that was as little as documenting that they have an ISO 9000 program. The harsh reality of life is that you are relying on the vendor to provide you the correct part anyway. Just because it says "P0960AW Rev T" on the sticker is no guarantee there isn't just a dead mouse in the case, unless you credit the vendor programs and process. 50 bonus points to the first person that can off the top of their head identify that part number. Riccardi Sent: Monday, March 16, 2015 10:40 AM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [foxboro] "Like for Like" kind FBM100 series REV-0L Folks, We recently had an FBM01 REV-0L fail and replaced it with a REV-0P version. In the Nuclear, Pharma, and I am sure other industries that require validation, the documentation required to support replacement parts of a "Like for Like" kind is simpler. I cannot find any reference in the GCS web site that would point me to documentation for the various hardware revision levels that would support this "Like for Like" kind. Does one exist? What do other Nuclear, Pharma, and other industries that require validation do in this case? Thanks Joseph M.
