If you are talking about a Sun station, it is /fb<x>
 
where <x> is replaced by your extra monitor number.  Actually I think you can 
safely use * there so that all are deleted.  Pretty sure it is in /dev but 
there might be a subdirectory from /dev
 
Then you shutdown and halt and at the prompt do a boot -r (to reconfigure 
devices) and the computer will find your devices and build the /dev/fb0  (zero) 
or what ever number is found.
