There is a white paper available on the Exchange 2003 Technical Library (http://microsoft.com/exchange/library) called "Client Network Traffic" that can help you answer that question. But the answer is probably "not a good idea" for 25 users with 128 Kbps upstream. But it really depends on their email usage profile. -----Original Message----- From: Tim Jordan [mailto:tim@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, January 14, 2005 9:20 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Re: Email Hosting Services http://www.MSExchange.org/ I have a site that I'm doing next month. I'm wondering how 25 users running in Cached mode would perform over a DSL line...I think the bottle neck is 128kb up... It will be a persistant VPN between two NetScreen 5GT's. Upper management got nervous when I mentioned Cached mode and they decieded to go with a dedicated Exchange server at the remote site. Now I'm stuck administrating two servers and making sure Exchange is routing correctly to the remote site. Not really sure I'm better off here... TJ -----Original Message----- From: Michael B. It greatly improves the user experience, in my opinion. If an OST corrupts, delete it and recreate. That is one of the great things about cached mode -- it still all exists on a reliable backed up server. -----Original Message----- From: Danny [mailto:nocmonkey@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, January 14, 2005 8:52 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Re: Email Hosting Services http://www.MSExchange.org/ On Fri, 14 Jan 2005 20:02:26 -0500, Michael B. So, you recommend to your clients to always run in cached mode? What about local OST corruption and the like? ...D ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: michael@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: tim@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: michael@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
