Hi Terry,

I would like to supply an answer to the first of your two questions.

I try to avoid receiving hard copy braille from the regional library because
the cartons in which they are mailed will not fit in the street corner mail
boxes. Thus, if the carrier won't pick up the cartons, they must be taken to a
post office, which is a real nuissance.

There are two things I don't understand. First, if the volumes are
available from the state libraries in paper braille, why does the web
braille file need to be embossed? The people needing these volumes can just
borrow them from the library.

Second, if the person needing the web braille volumes has a notetaker, a
braille display or a voice-only notetaker that reads braille, why do the
files need to be embossed?

Sharon, can you remind me how to do that? I know
you have to go to the dos prompt and type in some things. But is the doss
prompt accessible using Jaws-does anyone know?

I'm leaving here in a couple minutes but I appreciate everyone's response
and I'll be back in Monday to try out suggestions.

Thanks,

Deb B.

If the file is BRF format, you only need to send it to the embosser through
the command prompt, like we used to do in the old days.

Just my 2 cents worth .....

[duxuser] WebBraille again

Hi everyone,

I need to transcribe 3 volumes of a book that is on the WebBraille site.
Ive tried everything and cant get it to emboss properly. I seem to always
have had difficulty with WebBraille and dont really understand why. I
could copy and paste and most of the time, I did better with that than the
way its supposed to be done. Ive tried having my Duxbury set for 25
lines, 26 or 27. The 40 cells are fine. No matter what I do the page
number is either on the first line of the page just after the running head
or on the second line. And no matter what margin I use I get the message:
margin exceeded or something like that. I have an older version of Duxbury
but we have Dux 11 in house and are supposed to upgrade.
Thanks, Deb B.
