Hmmmm. One wonders at the stuff that’s been past down. My own grandfather
(according to my Mum who got it directly from him) was one of 22 kids including
5 sets of twins. Several baptisms, birth registrations, censuses later – he
was one of 9 singles.

I am not relying on “son of the family from the big house” any longer...>
I didn’t quite like to suggest it. but I thought it highly unlikely Hannah Hart
was engaged to someone from ‘the Big House’. Less unlikely that that someone
got her pregnant, alas.
I have stories from my own family where an obscure rellie has been ‘bigged up’
by a descendant. Took me ages to work out that the Captain in the Indian Army
who married a Spanish bride was, in fact, a twice-busted sergeant whose wife I
have strong suspicions was an under-age Anglo-Indian (possibly the reason for
one of the demotions). But the rumours persist in the family, who clings to its
myths.
I was intrigued by the occupations followed by Hannah’s f-i-l.....Bath chair
owner on one census, mole catcher on another
