Hello, I wish to number the titles of the chapters. I tested the

How to carry out that? *1. headline 1*  *    1.1 subheadline 1*
*    1.2 subheadline 2*

I have been looking at this as well but since I too am learning PHP we both are going to have to patient. If it is really important to you please set a bounty on it and possibly someone who is more php inclined would look at it sooner.

Believe me there are a few things I liked about mediawiki that dokuwiki does
differently or not at all that I would like to see in dokuwiki so I am
trying to learn php to see if I can help myself =)

The best way to do this is probably by syntax plugin. Would someone care to propose a syntax?

e.g.
- header replacement (this would mean all headers are numbered).
- page key + header replacement (headers on pages with key are numbered, wiki can contain pages with all headers numbered headers or all headers as now)
- new syntax (can have unnumbered headers and numbered headers intermixed on the same page)

config options could be used to control the depth of headers with numbering applied.

If someone proposes a syntax, I'll look at knocking together a plugin.

Cheers,

Chris
