According to the stats they posted last night our precinct has pretty close to what I guessed - 1575 registered voters, and supposedly 800 voted, so I know a bunch left without voting due to the failures so it may very well be that 1200 actually showed to vote but a 1/3rd left without waiting to get the chance. The state bought these stupid machines as a whole to replace the mixed machines in all the counties and standardize (from what I hear) and in most precincts and counties they worked fine - we started out with a bad machine and it died all day long. I have a feeling that someone needs to call a re-vote day for our precinct and have 3 machines programmed and waiting. It only takes the 5 mins to pull the votes from each as it's tallied ina door in back once they break the seal. > -----Original Message----- > From: computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Hal Brown > Sent: Wednesday, November 06, 2002 6:39 AM > To: computertalkshop@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [CTS] Re: Please do not forget to vote today!! > > > > On Tue, Nov 05, 2002 at 09:49:31PM -0600, Russ Blakeman duly noted: > > > >Here's a typical example of why people make fun of those in > rural areas as > >"hayseeds", "hicks", etc... > > > >We live in a town of 800, with the unincorporated area around it > also voting > >at the same place.
