Just to make sure I understand what needs fixing, does the Braille preview come from a translation using textDevice or brf as output format?

I believe the brf output is done by generating UTD first and then creating the brf from that, where as the textDevice translation goes straight to the textDevice output and is using different functions in liblouisutdml.

This appears to be a bug in liblouisutdml when rendering a brf file. Those additional blank lines are where the top and bottom boxlines should be. So in your example, you would have a top boxline which by default is, I think, cell 2-3-5-6 then your blank line before, then your blank line after, then the bottom boxline which is cell 1-2-4-5.

    Brandon,

How should the boxline show up in the Braille preview? I added
them to a couple paragraphs and all I see is a couple more blank
lines before and after the paragraphs. The paragraphs were a
custom style I have created with 1 line before and after.
