I have heard of all of these, but don't believe I've heard them speak. I didn't come into computers until 1998, and at that point I had and still use Eloquence. I do have a Software version of Doubletalk and an external Doubletalk LT for my rare uses of DOS, but I too don't like DOS, so to deal with both it and the doubletalk at the same time I'm ready to go insane. I guess I can understand the doubletalk fine enough, but it has to be slowed to at least a third, if not a quarter of the speed I use eloquence. That alone drives me nutso. I don't know how to convert JAWS's speech rate to words per minute, but I know I use it at 95% of it's capabilities. With Kurzweil I do sometimes use Dectalk, but mostly I prefer the IBM Via Voice or TTS thing. If I'm just reading, most of the time I have Kurzweil pumping words out around 720 WPM, but if I'm editing something I slow it down to around 600. Even if the doubletalk were able to pump out speeds like that, I would have no chance of understanding it because I know I can't understand it at the speeds it does do.
