Are the viruses different under the trees of piracy and porn? I'd think
hackers would use the same ones.

Since the posibility of geting a virus with a MAC isn't 0 per cent, Mac's
need virus protection as well.
Everybody will reccommend the program they use, and dislike the
recommendation of the next person.
If you are not tramping around in the gutter of piracy and pornography, AVG
Free is more than adaquate.

There you will also find spybot and addaware. All free and most of what you
will need to make a good maintainence kit for your new computer. Before
doing all this, see what your new machine comes with out of the box. Two
programs that attack the same problem often don't like to live in the same
machine.
