Hi Rick and list!

I'm glad you explained the situation so fully. I have not had the book port fail to hold my place in a book, but I have unintentionally pressed 1 for one beep when I shouldn't have. This moves you back to the beginning of the file. Perhaps you may have done this.

There are also other methods you can use to find your place under those conditions in audio and text files. The power move command can be useful here. Use E+F to move forward 50 percent from the beginning of a file. Use it again to get to the 75 percent point.

When listening to Audible material, you can use Audible sections. These are usually a chapter in a book or an article in a periodical. The next section command is C+F. The previous section command is A+D. Initially, I incorrectly assumed that sections only referred to Daisy books, so thought this worth mentioning.

I know you solve the current problem, but thought you might find the extra info useful in the future because anything that happens once can certainly happen again.

Cheers,
Dave

Yes it was just a normal text file so I understand why it moved like it did.
It was good enough though to get me back to the area of the file i needed.
For some strange reason after my batteries died last night the BP didn't
remember my place in the file and when I put newly charged batteries in the
unit today the file started reading from the beginning instead of where I
left off. Thanks for the help it's appriciated.

I normally read audible books or text files converted to mp3 so I didn't
know the movement commands. But lately I've been trying to listen to text
and get used to the double talk.

Rick

Hi Rick and list!

That's a tricky question. It does, but pages are more relative than accurate unless the book is a Daisy book that includes page markers, in which case it
will be right on the money.

Go to the settings keypad and look for page number. Press 5. Book port will say go to page. Enter the digits for the page number, followed by the nuber
key. You will be on that page.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi,

Does the book port have a page navigation system so I can jump forward a
page at a time or go to a specific page?

Rick
