May I start by saying that I have only heard 2 demonstrations of the Stream
and may be jumping to conclusions. Having said that, I read many books from
Book Share with the synthesizer and, even though I started out not liking
Double Talk, I liked the synthetic speech on the Stream even less. Also, if
I understood the demo correctly, you must set up the folders on the cards
for the Stream in advance of placing files on them. It sounds more
complicated than the BookPort with less functionality. I too am disappointed
with the delay of the BookPort 2. Since I have been putting off buying
anything else while waiting for the B P 2, I wish that we had some idea
whether we are talking: weeks, months, or a year or more. However, I too
appreciate APH being up front with us. I have used Talking Books since 1950
and have never had a more reliable player than the Book Port. In my
experience, it is unheard of for any producer to keep releasing new features
without additional cost until there is simply no more room for expansion.
After the recent cut in the budget for NLS, the distribution of players from
that source will be slowed down considerably. For that reason, I hope that
they work out something with other players soon. I wonder why the only
company approved is in Canada rather than the United States.

There's my 2 cents worth again.

Make it a great one

Sharon
