Hi Jackie,

I have been a Bookcurrier user for two years. I have never bothered with the
change battery command. I have always used good quality rechargeables. I
check battery levels regularly while listening. I always keep a set of charged
batteries, ready to replace. If I get any kind of software problem I take the
batteries out and put them back in again. It isn't difficult to reset the
clock and calendar, if this matters. As long as I remember to make sure my
files, when being saved for the Bookcurrier have file names that are meaningful
to me I don't have any problems. I don't do anything until the bleep, that
only takes ten seconds, until the Bookcurrier has gone to sleep.

William.

  Hi,

I am a more recent user, and I understood that there is no longer a change
batteries command. You just have to wait ten seconds till theBook Courier
turns itself off, before removing and changing the old batteries. I have never
had a problem with it, as long as I wait till I hear that little click
indicating that the machine has turned itself off.

Also, make sure that the upper battery is facing with the point to the right,
the lower one with the point to the left. (That is, with the belt clip up, and
the battery door is below the belt clip.) Hope this helps. Try changing them
again; make sure the new batteries are good (using a battery tester or try them
in something else to be sure they are working like new batteries). Hope this
helps.

Hi, I know it will not help now, but I have notice after my first unit broke
down, when you hear the message that you must change batteries, you must not
use the change batteries command, just change the batteries. I have not lost
my settings since. Only use the command when you decide to change the
batteries. It is a problem the developer need to look into. I also would
like an option to save my preferred settings over the default settings, so
that I can reload them when I reset the unit.

I used the change battery command, confirmed it, replaced with new
(non-rechargables) and now I have nothing. I tried other new batteries. I
tried leaving the batteries out for a while. I tried reset, and still
nothing. I have had my bookcourier for 3 years now without a problem.
Anyone out there have anything else I can try? Thanks
