When I first purchased my BC, I trad about a similar set of problems with battery changes.
Because of that, I have never used the battery change command and just remove both batteries.
Than defaults restored comes up when I insert the batteries.
Then I just reset some settings. I have never bothered with any of the clock settings.
I also always use quick charging MiNH rechargeable batteries in the unit.
I will have the BC a year in July06.

All,

I would be wary of the advice below. It is not the recommended way to
change the batteries (check out the user manual). I always use the "change
battery" function after I get the "change now" message. The only time I've
had any trouble is when I was using some rather old rechargeables that ran
completely out of steam before I could do the change batteries command. In
that case I lost my settings. Otherwise it has been fine.

Hi, I know it will not help now, but I have notice after my first unit broke
down, when you hear the message that you must change batteries, you must not
use the change batteries command, just change the batteries. I have not lost
my settings since. Only use the command when you decide to change the
batteries. It is a problem the developer need to look into. I also would
like an option to save my preferred settings over the default settings, so
that I can reload them when I reset the unit.

I used the change battery command, confirmed it, replaced with new (non-rechargables) and now I have nothing. I tried other new batteries. I tried leaving the batteries out for a while. I tried reset, and still nothing. I have had my bookcourier for 3 years now without a problem. Anyone out there have anything else I can try? Thanks Aerial Gilbert
