I have used synthetic speech for some time now as well. I've heard much of what is out there including the AT&T natural voices and Neospeech which comes with K1000. I think it's a matter of adapting one's listening ear to the voice which delivers the words in the most comprehensible while doing so without being overly distracting by virtue of the mechanicalness of the speech. I find if I want to read something rapidly or speed up some section of reading, the staccato nature of the synthetic voices versus the natural speech engines, is superior as words are pronounced more concesely. So hey, robot speech is not so bad for some reading for me. I am a long time user of speech synthesizers, going back to the old TSI Vert systems. I spoke to the tech at BC, he said Eloquence was too expensive but they are working on a SAPI5 speech engine, I think this would improve the BC immensely. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, George R. I like the voice on the Bookcourier but I don't think I'd like to listen to a whole document or book in it. You could download a program called textrecorder, its free and this can convert things into MP3 format so you can put it on the BC. If I can help further feel free to contact me off list. Now, I am scanning a book with a scanner from a paperback, but it is a new scanner much smaller than a flatbed. It's my book, so I can rip pages out. I am saving the book, one page at a time in Wordpad. Can I transfer this book later to my Book Courier and be able to read it?
