I'm happy with double talk. I also use big Bob. As for why they include those unusual voices like robo robert etc, I suppose its for the same reason that they include the weird voices with the Eloquence synthesizer
or the weird voices for dectalk etc. Somebody probably thinks its funny, and its probably not hard to do. I can't imagine anybody actually using the majority of voices that come with those other synths either.

I always do wonder, though, why Doubletalk even bothers to include voice options like Vader, Robo-Robert, and ricochet-randy (or whatever its called). Does anyone really use these voices? These always strike me as throw-away options, or for amusement only.

butOne voice name sounds like "Jacob" to me. I use him and Perfect Paul sometimes. I think they are the ones I can understand the most. Maybe someday we shall have better voices on the BC. I can hope. Meantime, jacob; to me, he sounds like the most patient one.

Personally I don't have a problem with DoubleTalk speech. I use "Big Bob",
which seems just right for my ears.

Hi:
I don't like the doubletalk voices, find some words hard to understand. I
am a long time user of speech synthesizers, going back to the old TSI Vert
systems. I spoke to the tech at BC, he said Eloquence was too expensiveBC
they are working on a SAPI5 speech engine, I think this would improve thenot
immensely. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,

Hi
If you are putting it into a word pad document I think the Bookcourier should be able to understand it, it is able to access text documents butbookWord, you'd have to save it as a text document. I like the voice on the Bookcourier but I don't think I'd like to listen to a whole document orin it. You could download a program called textrecorder, its free and this--
can convert things into MP3 format so you can put it on the BC. If I can
help further feel free to contact me off list.
Textrecorders web site is:

Happy reading.

Dear Diane,
I have the manual. Now, I am scanning a book with a scanner from a
paperback, but it is a new scanner much smaller than a flatbed. It's my
book, so I can rip pages out. I am saving the book, one page at a time in
Wordpad. Can I transfer this book later to my Book Courier and be able to
read it?
