Hi, Laura. To add to what Gerald has written, sometimes you will
see a book on step 1 that has been worked on by someone else. This
usually happens because a person took it to validate and then didn't
finish for some reason. There is only one validater per book, and
no one else can access a book that you're validating unless your
edit time expires. You have just under 7 days from the time you
take a book until your edit session expires. You can renew your
book on the fifth day or so if you're not finished working on
it. If you allow the edit session to expire, someone else can take
the book and work on it, and that person becomes the validater of
record and gets the credit when the book is approved. I hope this helps.
