Laura,

There are 3 steps to adding a book to the collection:
1. Scanning and Submitting a book
2. Validating the book
3. Approving the book

Some people like to scan and submit only, some people like to validate only,
and some like to do both. It really depends on what you're comfortable
with, and in the case of scanning, whether or not you have a scanner.

The last step must be done by a staff member because it requires someone
with administrator privileges. Jim has said that they've promised the
publishers who sponsored the amendment to the copyright law that no book
will be added to the collection without oversight by a staff member.

Gerald

So, again I'm a newbie and I have so many questions. I hope you don't mind
that I just reply and ask when they strike me.

Is there separate jobs for each type of thing on bookshare? As in are there

certain people who do just scanning and just validating?

Also, are there people who only do certain steps of the validation process?
I've read the validation instructions and they're pretty vague. What I mean

is that I see under each book that several people have done different things

to the books. So are certain people assigned to do certain things?

Thanks,
Laura
