Now wait a moment, in defense of bring up the longer holds for maybe some missed that there were extentions given for books and Robert just sent a book in as an example of one he found on a page way back because he was hunting for me a book to do and no one was singled out or pointed out. I knew about the two week rule I am sorry I may not have been here to have heard that there were exceptions to the rule, or I could have missed a post saying this I went by what I saw and we just happened to find that Christmas book that Robert thought I would truly enjoy proofing that was all there was to it. As far as complaining it was an honest mistake not knowing that some holds could be left on a long time, and from now on anything I see the word hold in front of, I'm gonna skip over it like a hot potato and if I find a book I do if not hey I have plenty to read in my reading pile and I'll come back next month or next year LOL to see if there any more. I'm kind ofafraid now to be an active proofreader now and even more afraid to post here I'm not really needed it's not worth the work and yes the tears when I worked for over an hour or more the other day and needed to release one I can leave that joy to yall who can do it so much better than I can. You made it fine long before I came and messed up the list and the books and you'll make it long after I'm gone, so I'll leave you to it and get back to reading the little house books that way I'm in no more trouble.

Gwen

My point exactly when I first posted to the thread. Now you could see how annoyed I was!

Hey, Anne, well said. I don't know why people dwell on things so much and whine and cry about them and dissect them to pieces and all that. If special hold arrangements have been made, great, there'll be something to proof later on down the road. I want to know what's going on with the list, but I feel forced to remain on vacation setting a lot because of the drama. If we spent the time doing what we are on this list for--scanning and proofreading and not dwelling and whining and upsetting the precious sighted and unsighted volunteers who are doing outstanding jobs, then we'd have more in the collection slowly but surely. Some months ago, people were whining that there weren't enough books in the checkout section, and now they're complaining because there are possibly too many books in the collection. After somebody figured it up and gave us the percentages, why should all this have been brought up when there are only 64 out of 438 or more books on hold and some of that by special arrangement. Do I have something to proof every day? No, I wait and look at the list until I find something I like if there truly isn't anything in the checkout queue. I admit I'd do a little more, but page numbering and paragraphing are intimidating to me but I do my part when I can. If we spent time shrinking the checkout pile and growing the collection, we wouldn't clutter up this list needless going around and around mountains we've already been around. I just get tired of folks complaining no matter what the situation whether it be bookshare or anything else for that matter. Just my two cents. Have a blessed day. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Parsons" <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi all,

I've been reading this thread for the past day. There have been some thirty messages about it. I don't understand. The problem was solved in January. Some books have been kept on the hold list by request. If that's the case, then leave them alone and quit whining. Get a life! Great gobs zucchini, life is too short to spend thirty messages on this topic especially since it's been solved already. <deep sigh>
