[bksvol-discuss] Re: Page numbers?

I E-mailed them and explained the situation and asked what to do. Let's see
what they say. I told them the scanning was terrific so that it shouldn't
be rejected just because of the page number thing. Let's see if they let me
submit it that way or if they want me to just insert them the best I can.

Since the page number thing is relatively new, I think I'd write a message
to _volunteer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (mailto:volunteer@xxxxxxxxxxxxx) (I think
that's the right place) and ask them what you should do.

Since the book had no page numbers when it was scanned the only thing you
could do is insert page numbers (if they insist on it), but I really don't
like to change a book unless it's to change a spelling (scanning) error.

I wondered about that. When I count everything, it is only a 6 page
difference. If I add page munbers, real ones to the text and Roman Numerals to
the prematter, can I just put in the comments section that I had to kind of
guess since they didn't scan but that I know nothing is missing from the
text? And, for the end matter, how do I number those pages? Real numbers,
Roman Numerals or what? Thanks!

Hi Megan,

I have noticed that when Amazon gives a page count, it often includes
preliminary pages. Perhaps your page count will match if you add the
number of preliminary pages, and the number of pages of actual text?

 Good luck!

Yes, that's the one. It seems that the text portion has 164 pages, that's
the page count word and my BrailleNote gave me for the part without the
front matter but Amazon.com says it should have 176 so I'm not sure what the
inconsistency is related to. The book scanned great, no duplications or
omissions so I don't know if I should just insert page numbers at the top of
each page even though it'll come out shorter than it supposedly should be or
if we could/should go through and see what each page starts with.
I'm new at this, especially the page number policy, so just tell me
what I should do. Oh, can you do me two favors? Can you tell me what was on
the title page, they told me I needed to insert one before the copyright
when I tried to submit it this morning, how many Roman Numerals there are and
how many pages? I want to make sure I get the title page right and maybe
Amazon got the page count wrong. Thanks!
I loved this book, I have to say. I was surprised and had just gotten
it thinking it'd be an easy read, but I really enjoyed it.

I think I scanned the book you are referring to, if it's Halloween Rain.
I have the book if there are any problems. I submitted it before BKS's
page number policy.
