I would suggest forgetting about trying to get the path right. If you have a my documents folder, why not just move the file there. Then when you go to upload it, brows to the My Documents folder and select the file. If the file is there, it will show up in the upload box. I don't type in a path name when uploading files to Bookshare. I just browse and select and paste it in.

If you have already tried this, I apologize.

Thanks, E. I had no trouble uploading books until I changed from a Gateway
Tower to a Dell laptop. I think it is probably the path, but I do not know
what to do about it.

At first I was trying to upload it as a RTF file, and it would either just
sit on accept until the page expired or I would get the error message, "not
a valid RTF file," even though I had validated it with msword.

Then someone suggested I try uploading it as a zipped file, so I named the
file "cypress.zip". When I upload it that way, I get the error message,
"problem copying the file".

On the old computer my path was always c:\windows\desktop\filename.ext. On
this one, it never says "windows" after C. The path I see now looks like
this:
c:\desktop...\cypress.zip

I have Windows XP with Jaws 7.0 professional and a DSL broadband connection.
If you need more info please tell me what you need to know. Thank you so
much.

What actually happens when you try to upload cypress point? What format do
you have it in when trying the upload? Perhaps we can help. What message
do you get. Have you successfully uploaded other books? Just asking so we
can all figure out what might be happening here. You are dilligent and we
appreciate it.

I, too, have had problems getting an answer--namely, on how to upload
Cypress Point, by Diane Chamberlain. I wrote to John Glass at support, and
although he did respond, his suggestion was that I write to this list
because it was not a bookshare problem.

I realize there is nothing wrong with the file, Cypress Point, by Diane
Chamberlain, because Gerald downloaded and checked it. However, the fact
still remains that I cannot upload it, even after getting my computer
straightened out and downloading it from Step 1 again. Since we are not
allowed to e-mail books to one another, and I have cleaned up the book, I
was hoping John Glass or someone who has admin privileges would let me send
the book to them so that it could be uploaded. How about it, staff? This
is a great read and I apologize for not being able to upload it.

Thanks,

I have had much the same feeling as Elizabeth has. While I am pleased that you indeed are reading the mail, John, so to speak, I feel that many of us would feel better about things if you, John, posted more publicly if, for no other reason, to create the feeling that someone at hq has a sense of what thoughts are out in the field. The groundwork for this was established first by Jesse and then later Marissa who were both publicly visible on the list; and when this stopped, a sense of abandonent was unitially created in the communications line. When you came on board, John, earlier this year, we thought that you too would become publicly visible. Hope that makes sense and why some of us feel as we have.
