Hi, Mayrie, I went into Microsoft Office Word and found my view menu. When I went to the zoom setting, it was set to page width, so I decided to leave it alone as it was the default setting. I, like you, am a firm believer in the saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I also have a further thought: don't mess with anything if you don't know what you're doing and if you have to mess around with something for whatever reason, make sure you have somebody you can talk to who knows what she/he is doing walking you through the process. I'm also a believer in George Ziff's idea of "the principle of least effort" which he applied to linguistic change, but which I apply to everything whether it comes to playing the guitar or mucking about with web sites, downloading, or anything technical. Regards, Kim. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mayrie ReNae Sent: Thursday, February 11, 2010 9:17 AM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Jaws not reading whole line in Word Hi Kim, The setting that fixed the problem that Tracy is having when I had the same problem is in the view menu. It's called "zoom". I don't know what it's for, or what it does, as I'm not a computer brainiac, but it fixed the problem when I set it to 75%. I wouldn't change what you've got set unless you have the same problem that Tracy has described. But that's just me. I am a firm believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." But that's just me, and I am a computer coward. They only cooperate with me when they want to. I've never dealt with this sort of thing. I take it I have to go into the view screen? It's on the view menu somewhere. Maybe that will help. Jaws is not reading the entire line. It reads the first half or so. Then, if I go to the end of the line, it reads the last half. I am using Word 2003. I have tried setting all the margins to 0. I have searched for column breaks--there aren't any. I've compared the font info of letters before Jaws stops with letters after that point, and they're exactly the same. I've tried maximizing the screen. Nothing has worked. I opened the file in K1000, and it read the file fine, but I really don't want to do the work in K1000. I don't want to be chained to the one computer that has K1000, among other considerations. Why is Jaws behaving in this odd way? Thanks for any ideas.
