Yikes! I wouldn't have a clue why Jaws would do a fool thing like that. I
wouldn't have a clue what to do about that. I assume you have your settings
configured the way you want them which is why this sounds weird to me. I can
only say you have my profound sympathy and you probably wish not to get this
message from me as I'm not being helpful. The computer has its vagaries and
maybe this is something that came up which is messing up your screen reader.
Anybody here on the list who is a tech maven and knows how to deal with
recalcitrant screen readers doing unhelpful frustrating things? I think this
is a necessary discussion in case I'm proofreading a book and my screen
reader takes it in it's pointy little head to drive me more nuts than usual.
Regards, Kim. P.S.: I really hope there's a great solution for your and Jaws
behaves itself so you can proofread your book satisfactorily. K.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Jaws not reading whole line in Word

I am having an odd problem with the book I am trying to proofread. Jaws is
not reading the entire line. It reads the first half or so. Then, if I go
to the end of the line, it reads the last half. I am using Word 2003.
I have tried setting all the margins to 0. I have searched for column
breaks--there aren't any. I've compared the font info of letters before
Jaws stops with letters after that point, and they're exactly the same.
I've tried maximizing the screen. Nothing has worked.

I opened the file in K1000, and it read the file fine, but I really don't
want to do the work in K1000. I don't want to be chained to the one
computer that has K1000, among other considerations.

Why is Jaws behaving in this odd way?
Thanks for any ideas.
Tracy
