Hi Mayrie,
Which chess learning book do you have?

Thanks.

Hi Jamie!

That's how my braille learning chess book does it, names the squares by the
letter and number of the rank and file or in non chess speak, the collumn and
row. The book will tell you which is supposed to be numbered and which
lettered. . You are truly devoted. You rock!

Mayrie

I picked up two chess books:

Beginner's Guide to Playing Chess by Susan Caldwell

and

Beginner's Chess Course by Enno Heyken

The second book has good illustrations that are already pretty much described.
For example one says The white rook at d5 can move along any of these four
paths. Then it has red arrows on the picture showing where the piece can move.
It also tells how to name the squares. I assume I would say where each piece is
with the number and letter combination of the square?
