Monica,

I have never had a problem with anyone named Jim, so you evidently have me
mixed up with someone else. There is more than one Sue on bookshare. Just
as there is more than one Moonica. I have never heard from you about anyone
named Jim.

Sue, my comments about my frustration with the scanning session were
about a different person and were made to you off-list in a private
message. You couldn't have known that we weren't talking about the
same person, so I can see your point. Though I was pretty angry with
him, I don't think I mentioned his name to you, though I do know who
he is. You are right to point out that I should not have commented
on his behavior to you at all, and I resolved the situation with him
directly after I emailed you. I am learning how to resolve conflict
with others and am finding that it is so easy to misread a person's
intentions.

As I tried to express last night, Linda has every right to comment on
her experiences at the chat room. I was attempting to provide an
alternative view to her description of what took place, not to say
that she can't express an opinion. I found the responses to her
comments to be disturbing more than what Linda said. I could have
chosen to ignore the thread of messages, and maybe I should
have. What has prompted me to say something is the fact that Brian
Collins is a new Bookshare member and joined our lists last week. He
is also signed up as a new volunteer. I believe that allowing these
comments to continue without presenting another viewpoint would leave
Brian vulnerable in a one-down position in terms of getting help with
learning to work with Bookshare and in finding people to validate his
scans. Maybe none of this will matter in the long run. I don't have
a crystal ball and can't see into the future. I just know that if I
were new here, I'd feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, especially if no
one was willing to suggest that I'd been misunderstood.
