You could go to Bells Bend area in Nashville. They are probably gone by now,
but a pair have wintered there the past two years and they are closer than the
ones at Aransas (been there, too) ... Millie, St. Matthews

Subject: [birdky] Sandhill cranes
Went to Cecilia this morning to see the sandhill cranes and look for the
whoopers. Saw hundreds of sandhills, no whoopers. Checked 6 major flocks
...including one by invitation of a local farmer who asked me if I was lost,
and I said no, just looking for cranes, so he said go down by his barn and look
in a bottom where they usually can be seen....and many flybys and small bunches
in the fields for about 4 hours. Nice day to be out. Guess I have to go to
Aransas, Texas to get a whooper.
