Was also along 685 this AM about 1030 EST. Two miles south of 68/80 counted 130+ Sandhills foraging in corn stubble and in a rain pond in the middle of the field. Birds were landing in pairs and groups of 4-6. We noted that many of them are showing a lot of brown plumage. For first year birds, the brown should be about gone by now. Looks like these sightings are local movements--out to forage and back to main flock at night. John Swindells Nelson County
