I confess to being a wee bit skeptical that Mike would recognize “our” Martins,
but have no evidence to dispute him. I do contest Steve’s assertion that ours
are the grumpy ones. Ours were incredibly cheerful. They are really really
gone. We continue to see fly bys, mostly by Barn Swallows.

Just spectacular. Easily 10,000 birds, and probably twice that or more;
hanging off the trees and utility lines next to the road and swarming
overhead. Surprisingly, no starlings.
