There’s a nest box for them at the Juniper Hills golf course in Frankfort. They
fly around us while we work in the monarch way station there. Love having them
for company.

Subject: [birdky] Martins
During this morning’s light drizzle, I spent a considerable amount of time
running cherry planks seasoned for decades through a plane. The procedure was
noisy enough for me to wear ear phones. At 9:36 A.M., moments after the plane
came coasting to a halt, I heard a “Chemp, Chornk!”
Stepped out the back door of the shop to see 2 Purple Martins perched atop
the plastic gourds. After becoming momentarily teary eyed at their return, I
reached for my camera and snapped a picture. They took off and disappeared
soon afterward. I began to think after a while that they may have decided
that our yard had become too noisy and had moved on. Then I heard them again
in about an hour. This time one began peering into a compartment. Got its
picture too. It would probably be a more correct protocol to file 2 separate
ebird incidental reports, but I’m far from being alone in slightly bending
ebird protocol. Two images with this link -
