Since you’re wanting to shoot south/southwest, do you really need to get that
far south of the Phoenix light dome? Would someplace with the South Mountain
between you and the light dome work? Maybe someplace like the Pyramid Trailhead
Parking Lot or maybe District 6 - Kolka Park in the Gila River Indian Community?
I seem to remember there was an area off 85 just south of the Gila River where
snowbirds parked their campers during the winter. That’d put Phoenix behind you.
