Oooh, that's a fascinating one Michael (L). In Word 9 (aka 2000) the Options / Compatibility tab items for this are named: Suppress extra line spacing at top of page. Suppress extra line spacing at top of page like Word 5.x for the Mac. I have these option unselected, here. Maybe Terry (D) has his set as selected, hence the different output. So often with Word, it's all about stumbling over abstrusely worded settings that are hidden in unexpected places. Regards, Michael Michael E.
