We use TRIM, but that's because we make it - http://www.towersoft.com/ap/ It's helpful to use the software one writes about. Any information management tool that provides check-in and check-out functionality, with revision and version control should be enough to meet your requirements. Pros and cons of different products probably occur once a system is deployed beyond the simple requirements of technical writers. You've all been a great help. I have decided to continue with my inclusion of the version number in the filename of documents within my Network folders. The Intranet contains only the most current versions and therefore these will not include a version number in the filename. The version number will be contained within the document properties and within the Document Control / Revision History section of the document. That will be ok until we get proper version/document control in place. On that note (should I open this can of worms?) anyone have any thoughts on good Document Management / Content Management / Records Management or Knowledge Management Tools. Do you use one and if so what are some pros and cons of the tool?
