The problem is you could have a proximate cause that is easily correctable
like someone didn't tighten a bolt correctly, but have a root cause like
"general sloppiness in handling" that is not so easily correctable. Even
if customers start to think the root cause is general sloppiness that's a
big problem. It might be easier to put customers' minds at ease if it's an
obscure quirk of a new design.
