Can't help asking, though I know it is off topic, did you bring your guide dog along too? Just mention that as you mention EasyJet. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Brown" <thebrownsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Carol

I stayed at a guest house that had Virgin Media. I really used it as my
base to sleep and have breakfast, the rest of the time I was out. I read my
tweets in bed at night, and that was me. I came home to a backlog, but I
expected it, and knew that if anyone wanted me urgently, they could leave a
message with Martin, or ring me on my mobile. I took my BrailleSense as
well as my iOS devices, but the Sense was the problem for Virgin Media
altogether, so I put it back in my case and said: "sod you", (smile).
Everything was brilliant, including Easyjet's assistance and the people at
the guest house, but it was a piece of Braille technology that let me down
out of everything! (grins).

Glad you had such a good time, Jackie. I would have abandoned mail too if
mine hadn't worked automatically. Mike was not at all bothered that he
couldn't get his and mine was no problem.

Hi Carol

The place where I was staying used Virgin Media, which is similar or the
same as NTL isn't it? I have no idea why I couldn't send, but quickly
gave
it up as a bad job and a waste of precious time I wanted to spend with my
family and friends.

We did have a problem at the Lauriston Hotel with our NTL email and didn't
actually solve the sending of mail there.

Anyone know what I should alter for next time?

As I understand it, it doesn't matter what method you use to connect to
the
internet, you can still use your current smtp and pop three.

Apologies for cross-posting, but I need to know something regarding the
use
of sending Emails while away from home.

I am taking both my iOS devices and BrailleSense with me when I go to
Scotland tomorrow, but when I wish to reply to any Emails I receive, what
SMTP protocol would I use? At the moment, my incoming and outgoing are
both
mail$btinternet$com, so if I use WiFI where I am staying, do I just change
the SMTP to whatever their provider is, or is it more complicated than
that?

I hope this makes sense, and thanks to anyone who manages to understand
and
reply to this accordingly.
