Jackie,

It's PC World. A number of folk already have them on list so they may advise you better than I can at present.

I saw the keyboard last night and it felt fairly good, though I'm using a rather expensive Dell laptop at present and it doesn't come near to that feel, but it's not anything near that price either. The keys are quite small but parted enough to find your way around and, using fingertips, to get fairly fast I would say.

The keyboard layout appeared much the same as a lot of laptops, with Del on top right, followed by a few others you often need, working towards the left on the top row, that is.

Anyway, we couldn't get one from our local PC World last night as they were sold out, but wanted to think about it anyway, so we still may go elsewhere if Steve convinces us about PCWind or we have another offer in the box.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Carol

Wading into this interesting thread, where are you getting your
machine from, and could you tell me what the keyboard is like please?

Thanks.

Thanks Mark and all. Have it sorted now. Just need the machine to
come ...

Carol,

I have had the 4211 for a month or so now. All the software I have
installed, including Office 2003 and Hal, I put from the CD onto an
external hard drive and then installed to the 4211 from that.

It's an excellent little machinem, imho, too. Just bought another
for

my daughters birthday.

Ah, thanks Tris. Don't know where my brain is today ...

Sorry! <Smiles>

You can download any version of JAWS from www.freedomscientific.com
thus obviating the need for a CD. A number of people have used the
Advent 4211 including one whose opinion I could personally vouch
for.
