What Steve is saying is this. To change to compact view in Skype 4:
Press alt v, arrow to compact view and press enter.
Now to change to simple graphics:
Press alt t to open the tools menu, arrow to accessibility submenu and press 
right arrow to open it, arrow to simple graphics and press enter.

Oh well in that case fine Steve.  It was what you were talking about
minamizing the window etc and something to do with the graphics.  I just
heard where version 3.8 was more recommended for blind users.
