If you do a test call by entering echo123 in the edit box and press enter, you
will be invited to make a 10 second test, this will then be played back to you
so you can tell if your mic level is OK.

I know some might consider this off topic, but does anyone know how one can
increase the microphone volume in Skype. Last sunday evening, I called my
friend and could hardly hear her. We have been talking regularly for well over
a year with no problems like this. Other chat programs we use are not
affected. She tried reinstalling Skype but to no avail.
